Part-Time Budtender

The Budtender is responsible for providing knowledgeable, friendly, and professional customer service at Omagakii Cannabis Store. This position helps customers make informed purchasing decisions while promoting responsible cannabis use and ensuring all sales follow applicable laws, licensing requirements, and company policies.

The successful candidate will assist with daily retail operations, including processing transactions, verifying identification, maintaining product displays, receiving inventory, and keeping the store clean, organized, secure, and welcoming.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service

    • Welcome customers and create a friendly, respectful, and inclusive shopping experience.
    • Ask appropriate questions to understand customers’ needs and preferences.
    • Provide accurate information about cannabis products, accessories, formats, and responsible use.
    • Explain product differences without making medical claims or guarantees.
    • Respond professionally to customer questions, concerns, and complaints.
    • Maintain customer privacy and confidentiality.
  • Sales and Point-of-Sale Operations

    • Process purchases accurately using the point-of-sale system.
    • Handle cash, debit, and other approved payment methods responsibly.
    • Verify prices, discounts, promotions, and transaction details.
    • Follow cash-handling, till-balancing, and reconciliation procedures.
    • Promote approved store programs, products, and in-store initiatives.
    • Meet customer-service and sales expectations without using high-pressure sales tactics.
  • Product Knowledge

    • Develop and maintain knowledge of cannabis categories, including dried flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, edibles, beverages, oils, capsules, and accessories.
    • Understand basic cannabis terminology, including THC, CBD, terpenes, potency, product formats, and consumption methods.
    • Participate in product education, staff training, and compliance training.
    • Stay informed about new products, store promotions, and company procedures.
  • Compliance and Workplace Safety

    • Follow the Cannabis Act, applicable First Nation Cannabis Board requirements, and company policies.
    • Follow occupational health and safety requirements.
    • Protect confidential customer, employee, and business information.
    • Complete all required compliance and workplace training.

Qualifications

  • Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
    • Cannabis, retail, hospitality, or customer-service training is considered an asset.

    Experience

    • Previous retail, customer service, hospitality, cannabis, or regulated-sales experience is preferred.
    • Experience using a point-of-sale system and handling cash is considered an asset.
    • Previous cannabis retail experience is an asset but is not required for candidates who are willing to learn.

    • Ability to lift, carry, and move products weighing up to 25 pounds or 11 kilograms.
    • Ability to bend, reach, stock shelves, and complete cleaning duties.
    • Ability to work in a busy retail environment.
