Assistant Manager (AM) – Omagakii Cannabis Store

The Assistant Manager (AM) is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the daily operations of Omagakii Cannabis Store. The role ensures exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, team leadership, inventory control, and operational excellence while promoting a safe, professional, and welcoming retail environment.

The Assistant Manager acts as the Store Manager’s delegate during their absence and helps drive sales, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and profitability while ensuring full compliance with Saskatchewan cannabis retail regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Store Operations

  • Assist in managing daily store operations and opening/closing procedures.
  • Ensure the store maintains high standards of cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising.
  • Monitor store performance, sales targets, and operational KPIs.
  • Support implementation of company policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
  • Ensure proper cash handling, deposits, and reconciliation procedures.

2. Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and daily direction to retail staff.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Conduct floor supervision and provide real-time coaching to improve customer service and sales performance.
  • Support conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives.

3. Customer Experience

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure all customers receive knowledgeable product guidance.
  • Resolve customer concerns, complaints, and service issues professionally.
  • Promote responsible cannabis consumption through education and compliance-based customer interactions.
  • Build customer loyalty through a welcoming and informative retail environment.

4. Inventory Management

  • Assist with receiving, verifying, and processing cannabis shipments.
  • Conduct inventory counts, audits, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure secure storage and handling of cannabis products.

5. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Saskatchewan Cannabis Control Regulations.
    • Cannabis Act (Canada).
    • Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
    • Company operational and security policies.
  • Verify age identification and ensure responsible sales practices.
  • Participate in compliance audits and maintain required documentation.
  • Report incidents, security concerns, and regulatory issues promptly.

6. Sales & Business Performance

    • Assist in achieving sales goals and profitability targets.
    • Monitor daily sales trends and customer purchasing patterns.
    • Promote store initiatives, loyalty programs, and product launches.
    • Support local marketing and community engagement activities where appropriate.
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.

Job Skills & Abilities:

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Retail Management, or a related field is considered an asset and will be given preference.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of retail experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Managerial or leadership experience in retail, with direct team handling experience is a must
  • Experience in cannabis, liquor, hospitality, or regulated retail environments preferred.

Certifications & Requirements

  • Valid Saskatchewan CannaSell Certification (or ability to obtain before start date).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move products up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
