Zagime Management Authority Ltd. (ZMAL) is proud to be part of a historic milestone in Indigenous-led renewable energy development. We are honoured to have our CEO, Nathan Kaye, and ZMAL employee and Zagime Nation member Steven Pelletier serving on the project management and technical team for the Mino Giizis Solar Project.
We are excited to announce that SaskPower has officially signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Mino Giizis Solar Ltd., a 50% Indigenous-owned partnership between Cote First Nation, The Key First Nation IR#65, Kinistin Saulteaux Nation, Zagime Anishinabek Nation, and development partner Neoen, following a competitive procurement process led by the First Nations Power Authority (FNPA).
This 100 MW solar project, located near Lajord southeast of Regina, represents meaningful Indigenous participation in Saskatchewan’s power system and provincial economy. Once complete, it will deliver emissions-free electricity to power approximately 30,000 homes, while supporting economic reconciliation, long-term own-source revenue, and employment opportunities for our Nations.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership whose vision brought this opportunity forward, including Chief Felix Thomas (Kinistin Saulteaux Nation) and Chief Lynn Acoose (Zagime Anishinabek Nation) for engaging Tribal Chief Isabel O’Soup and helping advance this transformative partnership through the Yorkton Tribal Council and the Anishinabek Power Alliance. We also acknowledge Chief George Cote (Cote First Nation) and Councillor Fernie O’Soup (The Key First Nation) for stepping forward on behalf of their Nations.

To the Technical Team
Nathan Kaye (Zagime Anishinabek Nation), Simone Cote (Kinistin Saulteaux Nation), Mitch Hippsley (Yorkton Tribal Council), Ajay Tadi (Yorkton Tribal Council), and Steven Pelletier (Zagime Anishinabek Nation) — your expertise, dedication, and countless hours of work made this project a reality.
Thank you to our partners:
• Neoen Canada
• First Nations Power Authority (FNPA)
• SaskPower
• MLT Aikins
• BowMont Capital and Advisory Ltd.
We also want to acknowledge The Moose and Bannock for providing a coffee station and an amazing catered lunch for everyone in attendance yesterday — your generosity and support were greatly appreciated.
This project demonstrates what is possible when First Nations work together with shared purpose — shaping our own economic future while caring for the land.
This is truth and reconciliation in action. We move forward together, in a good way.
